Conservation
Protecting What Matters

The Penyu Shell-Ter Project is YTL Cement Group’s conservation initiative, featuring 70 handcrafted turtle sculptures painted by Malaysian artists and public figures. More than an art showcase, the project raises awareness and funds for the Turtle Conservation Society of Malaysia (TCS) and PULIHARA, two NGOs dedicated to protecting endangered sea turtles.
The turtles will be displayed at select YTL Hotels nationwide before being put up for auction, both online and offline. Each sculpture tells a story of creativity, community, and conservation. This initiative is more than an exhibition – it is a movement to safeguard Malaysia’s sea turtles and the ecosystems they call home.
Giving Back Through Art

The Story Behind Each Turtle

Inspired by the green sea turtle – one of Malaysia’s most iconic yet critically endangered marine species – each sculpture carries both symbolic meaning and artistic expression.
Measuring 30 cm x 25 cm, every turtle was crafted with ECOCem™, YTL Cement’s low-carbon solution, and cast from a bespoke silicone mould designed to capture the species’ natural form and intricate details with lifelike precision. The sculptures were hand-poured by YTL Cement’s R&D team, blending technical expertise with craftsmanship to ensure structural integrity and a refined surface finish.
Once demoulded, each piece was meticulously hand-finished – every curve sanded smooth to reveal an elegant, enduring form ready to be transformed by the artists.
From October onwards, visitors can discover the stories behind every turtle. QR codes at display locations will connect you directly to the artists’ inspirations and creative journeys.
